As part of the 30th edition of the World Music Cities Festival, Ashs The Best (Elhadj A. Thiaré) will perform his rap in Aubervilliers on 24 October 2026, at the Point Fort in Aubervilliers. Born in Pikine, in the suburbs of Dakar, he grew up in a family of musicians, with a father who had been part of the reggae group Niominka Bi. From an early age, he drew on this heritage and refined his writing, rhymes, and flow.
Launching under the name Ashs The Best in 2013, he has carved a distinctive path in Senegalese hip-hop by blending rap, jazz, and acoustic touches, with particular attention to the lyrics. Rapidly spotted on the local scene, he followed with tracks that circulated and left a mark, such as Wétoon Na, Gadaay, and Ayway Samba. On stage, he champions this blend of rap energy and more open musical colours, driven by direct lyricism and a groove that sticks to him.
