Bleib Modern is charting new paths. For the first time in the band's history there are German lyrics. In addition to guitars, bass and drums, synths and samples are now an integral part as well. The varied song structures lead into a glittering dream world: with tracks such as "T.W.T.I.A." and "Feeling Great" there are driving earworms, whereas "Stell Dir Vor" and "Rainy Day" are the soundtrack for darker moments. The music carries the Bleib-Modern vibe, but on a higher level. The Hamburg-based musician Konstantin Unwohl, known for the underground hit "Mein Verstand" and for the track "Amarillo" featured on his debut, ventures on his new album into even more driving waters. Where short-lived gratification accompanies the daily grind in the eternal struggle with nagging doubts, where the sun mockingly shines on a bowed head and where the last drink is always one too many, there the new Unwohl moves on "Neuer Wall" with powerful yet unpredictable drum-machine rhythms, genre-blending in the spirit of early Yello albums, and the singer's skeptical stance toward an ever more extreme outer and inner world, thereby uniting nostalgic moments with a modern zeitgeist.
