Calema is the story of two brothers, António and Fradique Mendes Ferreira, born in São Tomé and Príncipe and who became one of the flagship duos of Afro-Lusophone pop. Their music moves between Afrobeat, pop, rhythms reminiscent of kizomba, touches of R&B, and subtle electronic textures, with their distinctive way of carrying melodies across Africa, Portugal, and France. They sing in Portuguese and tell direct, often sentimental stories, driven by a chorus that sticks in the head.
After 15 years of a career celebrated with the album Voyage, where Latin colors also cross paths, Calema continues on stage with a show designed as a continuous movement, in the image of their name, inspired by Atlantic waves.
