Hindley Street Country Club, often shortened to HSCC, arrives at PHIL in Haarlem on 6 April 2027 with their tight, studio-like live approach to pop, rock, soul and funk classics. Since 2017 this Australian collective has been bringing together studio-minded musicians around bassist and producer Constantine Delo. Their recipe: play as if you’re in the studio, with that direct, one-take energy, but on stage.
HSCC rose to prominence with live recordings in which the band respects the core of well-known songs while subtly tweaking groove, arrangement and dynamics. Think a backbone of pop-soul rhythms, melodic guitars and prominent keys, sometimes augmented with brass. Vocals also regularly rotate through guest singers, giving each interpretation its own color. The result isn’t a slick cover carousel, but a band that lets songs breathe anew, with the precision of session musicians and the feel of a real live band.
