Slow Pulp arrives at Thekla (Bristol) on February 4, 2027, with its soft yet tense indie rock, somewhere between bedroom pop, indie folk, and light alt-country inflections. Born in Madison before settling in Chicago, the quartet led by Emily Massey (with Alex Leeds, Teddy Mathews, and Henry Stoehr) has built itself on guitars that grab without forcing, melancholic melodies, and direct, emotionally attuned writing.
From the lo-fi grain of their beginnings to the sharper cuts on Moveys, and the new directions taken on Yard, Slow Pulp preserves this blend of fragility and momentum that translates particularly well live. Expect songs that gradually build tension, propelled by a restrained yet precise rhythm section, and arrangements that let the choruses breathe while maintaining real density. A show to hear their own distinctive way of making the intimate feel real, without posturing.
