On 23 February 2027, The Bones of J.R. Jones brings Jonathon Linaberry’s latest chapter to Future Yard in Birkenhead. With Radio Waves, his sixth album under the name, he digs into the sounds that shaped him without getting stuck in nostalgia. Produced with Robbie Lackritz, the record moves in that hazy space where acoustic grit meets retro synth tones, building songs that feel tense, slow-burning, and strangely hypnotic. Linaberry sings like he means it, leaning into doubt, memory, and the messy parts of growing up, with a delivery that stays direct and unpolished.
Raised in central New York, he started out in punk bands before falling for the raw power of field recordings and older American roots music. Since launching The Bones of J.R. Jones in 2012, he’s carved a lane where folk, blues and Americana blend into something personal, built for the stage as much as for late-night listening. His songs have also travelled widely, turning up in series like True Detective, Suits and Daredevil, and taking him across tours in the US and Europe.
