Bertrand Belin returns to the stage with Watt, his eighth album, and that unmistakable way of making words snap without overdoing it. With a deep voice, crisp phrasing, and precise writing: his songs delve into intimate fears, the desires we hide, and this relationship with the world that goes awry. On record as on stage, he channels the tension between chanson, pop, rock, and electro touches, with tracks that progress at once to the rhythm of the narrative and to the groove.
Around him, a six-piece band adds breadth to the songs: guitars, synths and strings intertwine, alternating contemplative passages with more danceable crescendos. Notably, we find L’inconnu en personne or Amour ordinaire, carried by elegant arrangements and a live dynamic conceived as a true journey.
