Etana, born Shauna McKenzie in Kingston, arrives in Birmingham with her distinctive blend of roots reggae, soul and R&B, carried by a warm voice and writing anchored in reality. Discovered with “Wrong Address,” she has established herself over the years as a leading figure in contemporary reggae, capable of alternating between politically engaged tracks, more intimate songs, and choruses tailored for live performance.
A two-time Grammy Award nominee, she marked a milestone with I Rise, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Reggae chart, followed by Reggae Forever (2018) and Pamoja (2021), where she further broadens her palette between reggae, dancehall and touches of soul. On stage, Etana balances the energy of the riddim with a front-and-center presence close to the audience, putting her lyrics at the forefront.
