Erykah Badu returns to the stage with her signature blend of neo-soul, R&B, funk, hip-hop and touches of jazz, carried by a supple voice and a groove sensibility that favors the organic. From Baduizm and the Live album Live through Mama’s Gun, Worldwide Underground and the two installments of New Amerykah, she builds a repertoire that moves from intimate to political, with a very free approach to phrasing and silences. On September 14, 2026, at the RBC Amphitheatre in Toronto, she unfolds this heritage from the Soulquarians era and her taste for shifting arrangements, where contemporary soul naturally dialogues with rap culture.
De La Soul will join her for the evening. A key trio in alternative hip-hop, they marked the late 1980s with 3 Feet High and Rising and its art of sampling, skits and soul/funk/pop collisions. The follow-up hardened the tone, from De La Soul Is Dead to Stakes Is High, with writing more direct about the era and the industry. On stage, Posdnuos and Maseo continue to bring this catalog to life, balancing the Native Tongues spirit with group energy.
