Boris

Boris brings its shape-shifting sound to Òran Mór in Glasgow on 12 October 2026. Formed in Tokyo in 1992, the trio of Atsuo, Takeshi and Wata moves between glacial drone, slowed-down sludge, noise rock eruptions, stoner grit, psych flights and quiet ambient stretches. Live, they build tension through repetition, stark volume shifts and abrupt changes of form, letting long, hypnotic pieces rub against shorter, more direct songs without settling into one lane.

Across albums like Absolutego, Amplifier Worship and Flood, then Pink, Dear, NO, W and Heavy Rocks, Boris has mapped out a catalogue that keeps circling extremes while leaving room for melody and space. Collaborations with Keiji Haino, Merzbow, Sunn O))) and Michio Kurihara have deepened their taste for improvisation and free structures, a thread that runs through their shows on independent stages in Japan, Europe and North America. Three decades in, the trio still treats the stage as a laboratory, stretching sound and dynamics until they click into a different kind of groove.
