Syd Matters

Syd Matters is the Paris-born indie-folk project led by singer and composer Jonathan Morali since 2003. On 29 April 2027 at KOKO in London, the group returns to the stage with the intimate writing that shaped its identity: warm vocals, fingerpicked guitars and understated arrangements that leave space for breath. Over four albums, songs like Black & White Eyes, Obstacles, To All Of You and I Might Float have drawn a clear line between folk and subtle pop, carried by close-knit harmonies and a taste for quiet dynamics.

Live, Morali and his musicians play with contrasts, moving from acoustic fragility to broader, layered textures where synths, percussion and voices build with restraint. After the album cycle, Morali kept composing for theatre, film, animation and video games; the Life Is Strange soundtrack broadened his audience and still informs his approach on stage. This KOKO date brings that repertoire into focus, with arrangements that privilege detail and atmosphere, and songwriting that keeps narrative and melody at the center.
