On 18 February 2027, The Bones of J.R. Jones plays Norwich Arts Centre in Norwich. Behind the name is Jonathon Linaberry, a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from upstate New York. His set moves between blues, folk and Americana with a garage-rock edge and a dark, cinematic tone. Alone on stage, he switches from guitar to banjo, keeps time with minimal percussion, and lets a rough, resonant voice lead the way.
The project started in 2012 after years in punk bands and a dive into Alan Lomax field recordings, and has taken shape across the albums Dark Was the Yearling, Spirit’s Furnace, Ones To Keep Close and Slow Lightning, where electric energy meets more intimate arrangements. The performance draws across this catalogue: steady grooves, lean riffs and unhurried ballads, built live in tight layers. A close-up set that puts songwriting first, without frills.
