Info
Since 2009, La Delio Valdez has developed its own language rooted in cumbia, treated as a common code that spans Latin America. On 1 August 2026, at Casa Capitão in Lisbon, the collective will bring this vision to the stage in an orchestral format.
With 15 musicians on stage, the band revives the tradition of the great orchestras of the continent and operates as a cooperative, in a lineage close to the National Tango Orchestras of the 1950s. Its theatricality and stage presence engage in dialogue with Caribbean orchestras, with an emphasis on dance and a dense, direct sound.
Their arrangements weave Andean echoes with salsa, rock, jazz and reggae, creating a repertoire that blends tradition and contemporaneity. The writing privileges the interplay between voices, the dialogue of the wind instruments, and a marked rhythmic pulse, crafted to move the body without losing detail.
Over the course of their career, the group has amassed six Gardel Awards, consolidating its position in Argentine popular music. Three of those distinctions were in the Best Tropical Group Album category, for albums entirely credited to the band: Sonido Subtropical (2018), El tiempo y la serenata (2021) and El Desvelo (2025).
