Brought to prominence by her single “Banana Split,” Lio is today a francophone pop icon. The release of “Banana Split” in 1979 paved the way for a series of songs such as Amoureux solitaires, Amicalement vôtre and “Week-end à Rome,” a duet with Étienne Daho. With 11 albums to her name, Lio returns with a 12th studio album: Geoid Party in the Sky. The record was born from a desire to return to her first loves and to pay tribute to the beautiful encounters life has given her — and to the memorable meetings of her career; it is above all these that enrich her new project.
Lio has enlisted several artists from the new pop generation: Louane, Hoshi, Corine, Isia Marie, Betta Lemme, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Marie Darrieussecq and Sofia Portanet have all agreed to write for the Belgian‑Portuguese artist. Each song is built around an encounter, a transmission, and addresses themes common to women of all generations.
