Schur

On 25 October 2026, Rough Trade Bristol hosts Schur, a New York artist working at the junction of rap, indie pop and alternative hip-hop. Raised in Connecticut with a first love for the guitar and early riffs from Led Zeppelin, he cut his teeth in the teenage band Pampalibros before co-founding Rock Cottage Studio, a small recording space that supported local players, benefit gigs for Horns for Kids and the Rendezvous festival. After moving to New York to study at Columbia University, he shifted toward contemporary hip-hop, drawing on influences like Kanye West, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Logic and Felly.

Through singles including Gullwing Bravado and the Unsure Mixtape, Schur has shaped a sound that blends rapped and sung vocals, melodic production and guitar lines woven into modern rap rhythms. His writing leans toward introspection, often tracing a path between Connecticut and the city. In Bristol, he brings this hybrid palette to the stage, with special guests on the bill.
