Genesis Owusu

Genesis Owusu brings his shape-shifting blend to The Workman’s Club, Dublin on 4 December 2026. Ghana-born, Canberra-raised Kofi Owusu-Ansah has carved a path where hip-hop writing meets funk snap, post-punk bite, soul colours and experimental pop turns. Early singles set the tone with rhythmic phrasing and a play between rapped verses and sung hooks. Smiling with No Teeth (2021) tightened the mix around themes of identity, isolation and social friction, switching from blunt rap to dry funk, dance-leaning passages and punk-tinged rushes. STRUGGLER (2023) pushed the angles further with jagged guitars, spoken word and pulsing rhythms.

On stage, this collage becomes a physical, band-driven set: voices flip registers, bass and drums lock into nervy grooves, and songs pivot from taut, wiry sections to open, melodic refrains without losing momentum. The show leans into contrast and release, threading front-foot rap with live energy and pop efficiency, a space where moshy edges, swing and chant-ready moments sit side by side.
