Info
Moontricks bring their electro-folk blend to the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on October 25, 2026. Born in British Columbia’s Kootenays, the duo pairs producer Nathan Gurley with singer-songwriter Sean Rodman. Their palette folds bass music, downtempo moods and a touch of glitch into acoustic guitar, banjo and harmonica, with vocals shaded by blues and country. What started with early tracks online and on Western Canadian festival stages has grown into tours across North America and a catalogue of EPs and singles.
On stage, Moontricks lean into melody and sung refrains, threading organic textures through electronic structures. The album Currents (2022) set the tone, gathering instrumental, bass-driven cuts alongside songs that tilt toward an electronic take on americana. Live, the duo shift fluently between hand-played passages and laptop-driven grooves, letting harmonica lines and banjo licks ride sub-bass and breakbeat patterns. The set moves from intimate pickings to weightier drops without breaking the flow, balancing folk timbres and club energy in a format that keeps instruments and machines at the same level.
