On 6 October 2026, Mansur Brown brings his shape-shifting instrumental world to The Bodega in Nottingham. Based in Brixton, the guitarist, producer and multi-instrumentalist has been carving out a sound since the mid-2010s where contemporary jazz and fusion collide with abstract hip-hop patterns and soft electronic haze. His playing isn’t about flashy solos; it’s more like elastic guitar lines threading through fractured drums, leaving space for texture, silence, and those slow, meditative turns.
Built on the language he set in motion with Shiroi and expanded on Heiwa and the NAQI EP, this show should feel like a live edit of his studio approach: tight, focused pieces that still breathe like improvisations. Expect grooves that flirt with broken beat, ambient washes that blur the edges, and a set that slides between genres without settling, led by a musician who treats composition and sound design as part of the same gesture.
