Loreena McKennitt « The Mask and Mirror - 30th Anniversary Tour »

Loreena McKennitt will bring her The Mask and Mirror – 30th Anniversary Tour to the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt am Main on 10 March 2027. The Canadian singer, harpist and composer has blended Celtic roots with folk and influences from the Mediterranean and the Middle East since the 1980s. The 1994 album The Mask and Mirror epitomizes this bridge: inspired by medieval Spain, Persian and Arabic poetry and Gaelic tradition, it moves between narrative ballads, instrumental pieces and adaptations of literary texts.

Live, McKennitt relies on an acoustic ensemble that puts her voice clearly to the fore: harp, strings, keyboards and restrained percussion carry the arrangements. At the centre of the evening are pieces from The Mask and Mirror, complemented by selected titles from her repertoire, such as from The Visit or The Book of Secrets. The music unfolds in atmospheric soundscapes in which melodies and texts pick up the threads McKennitt has pursued for years: travel, poetry, traditions. Focus: the voice, the acoustic colors and the stories behind the songs.
