On 4 July 2026 Mzansi Bass takes over Open Ground in Wuppertal. In the Freifeld, DJ Lag will run the night: the producer from Clermont near Durban is one of the defining voices of gqom, a dry, percussive club sound with heavy bass and fragmented rhythms. Since the early 2010s he has helped shape this style, carried it from Durban to international floors, and brings that direct, stripped-down energy. Alongside him are Shannen SP and State OFFF, who expand the setup and further explore the night’s bass focus.
In the Annex, Echidna is on the bill: Andras_2020 and Miserere Mei present live sets that establish the vibe of the side stage, before STI ZOI, MYEN and B3CKI take the music from experimental territory to the dancefloor with their DJ sets. Two rooms, one clear focus: deep, driving club music between taut grooves and rough textures that keep the dancefloor moving.
