Info
Ankor bring their modern metal mix to O2 Institute Birmingham on 6 December 2026. Formed in Tarragona by guitarist and composer David Romeu, the band has moved from early melodic metal towards a blend of metalcore, alternative rock and pop-inflected hooks. With British vocalist Jessie Williams at the mic, Ankor plays on contrasts: clear melodies against more abrasive passages, tight riffs wired with electronic touches, and lyrics that swing between English and Spanish across records like My Own Angel, Last Song for Venus and Beyond the Silence of These Years.
Sharing the bill, Stockholm’s Self Deception push a sound that sits between modern rock, metal and melodic hard rock. Built around singer Andreas Clark and drummer Erik Ingels Graham, and completed by Ronny Westphal and Patrik Hallgren, the quartet layers dense guitars with vocal lines shaped by pop writing, without losing a heavy backbone. From their 2009 debut to Destroy the Art in 2024, their tracks show a steady move toward a more direct, punchy approach.
Canadian vocalist Lauren Babic adds another angle to the night. Known for Red Handed Denial and projects like CrazyEightyEight, she shifts with ease from clean, melodic lines to harsher techniques, drawing on metalcore, post-hardcore and alternative pop. Expect precise dynamics and strong vocal interplay across the lineup at O2 Institute Birmingham on 6 December 2026.
