André Rieu

On 6 June 2026, André Rieu brings the Johann Strauss Orchestra to Veikkaus Arena in Helsinki. The Dutch violinist and conductor from Maastricht has shaped a concert format centered on the Viennese waltz and melodic light classics. Trained at the conservatories of Liège and Maastricht, he first led a small salon ensemble before founding the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987, which remains the core of his touring projects.

On stage he leads from the violin, mixing Strauss arrangements with operetta excerpts, film themes, popular songs and approachable classical pieces. The program often includes guest singers and choir, with sing-along moments and an easy dialogue with the audience. Orchestral color, sweeping strings and danceable tempos carry the evening, in a theatrical presentation suited to large arenas while keeping the music front and center.
