Lowertown

Lowertown are coming to Urban Spree in Berlin on 18 September 2026. The duo from Atlanta — singer-songwriter Olivia Osby and multi-instrumentalist Avsha Weinberg — began as a bedroom-pop project before shifting their sound toward rougher indie rock: distorted guitars, driving, at times post-punk grooves, and interspersed sparse acoustic passages. Osby’s lyrics orbit themes of restlessness, relationships and city life; Weinberg sets up contrasts between jagged sounds and clear motifs.

After years of touring stress, a split with their label and creative friction, the pair returned to their roots: Atlanta, DIY spaces, punk neighborhoods — and the early corners of the internet where their community formed. Out of this return came the Ugly Duckling Union, less a brand than an attitude that conceives live sets as places for genuine encounter.

On stage Lowertown usually perform with an expanded line-up. That gives the songs greater immediacy without smoothing over their intimate, slightly rough aesthetic. At Urban Spree they will span from The Gaping Mouth (2021) through I Love to Lie (2022) to new material that breathes this phase of realignment — between spoken fragments, floating melodies and harder eruptions.
