On 30 August 2026, Limelight in Belfast welcomes Devin Townsend for the Metamorphis Solo UK & European Tour. The Canadian multi-instrumentalist and producer from Vancouver has spent three decades moving between extreme metal, progressive rock, ambient drift and orchestral scale. First noticed alongside Steve Vai on Sex & Religion (1993), he split his time between the industrial-thrash surge of Strapping Young Lad (Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing, City) and a solo path—Ocean Machine: Biomech, Infinity, Terria—where dense textures meet open melodies and a voice shifting from harsh to clear.

After The Devin Townsend Band, he pushed further with the Devin Townsend Project, stacking distinct chapters from Ki to Ghost, Deconstruction, Epicloud and Transcendence. He also opened a quieter, atmospheric route with Casualties of Cool, then returned in solo with Empath, Lightwork and PowerNerd. On stage in solo, Townsend reconnects these worlds in one flow, reworking pieces from across his catalogue to spotlight songwriting, guitar detail and vocal range, moving with ease from weighty riffs to spacious, ambient passages.
