Kurt Vile & the Violators play XOYO Birmingham on 12 September 2026, carrying in songs from his 2026 release Philadelphia’s been good to me, a record that brings him back to his hometown mindset. Largely self-produced, with assists on record from Adam Langellotti, keys player Matthew Jugenheimer, drummer Kyle Spence, guitarist Jesse Trbovrich and longtime collaborator Rob Schnapf, it treats music like a conversation across time and place. The title track nods to Philadelphia while tipping a hat to Tom Petty’s California reveries. Chance to Bleed moves with raw, garage-bred momentum on the album, and You Don’t Know Cuz It’s My Life builds toward a crowd-ready chant of hometown pride. Live, Vile leans into laconic vocals, ringing electric guitars and unhurried grooves, letting the Violators stretch songs with a calm, road-tested flow that drifts between indie rock, folk shades and a touch of psych.
