Mànran

On 9 May 2026 at Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline, Mànran brings a set that folds Gaelic tradition into present-day folk rock. Formed in Scotland in 2010, the band works through collective arrangements, mixing Gaelic songs with driving dance melodies and a direct, modern edge. Their path is mapped across four records — the early single Latha Math and the debut Mànran (2011), then The Test (2013), An Dà Là (2017) and Ùrar (2021) — where original writing meets tunes rooted in the tradition.

Over the years the line-up has evolved, from the departure of Calum Stewart and the arrival of Ryan Murphy to the addition of Kim Carnie and Aidan Moodie in 2019, after a first era that also included Norrie MacIver. On stage, Mànran builds energy around vocals, melodies and dance rhythms, a language shaped across festivals in Europe, North America and Australia, with stops that include a London 2012 performance and a first US tour filmed by BBC Alba. In Dunfermline, they connect songs in Gaelic and English with instrumental sets, drawing widely from their albums and newer material.
