Tricky

Tricky, aka Adrian Thaws, emerged from Bristol’s early trip-hop scene and first cut his teeth alongside Massive Attack, without ever joining the band. He quickly traced his own line, blending hip-hop, dub and post‑punk textures with a low, half‑spoken delivery. His solo debut Maxinquaye (1995) set the mood, followed by Angels With Dirty Faces (1998) and Blowback (2001). Across the years he has multiplied collaborations, including with Björk, and stepped into film work, notably appearing in The Fifth Element. In 2013 he released False Idols, another chapter in a discography that favors atmosphere, bass weight and fractured melodies over polish.

On 15 May 2026 at Troxy in London, Tricky brings that catalogue back on stage. The live set leans into slow‑burn rhythms, dub shadows and spare arrangements that leave room for voice and echo. Between older cuts and later material, he keeps the focus on tension and contrast, shifting from whispered confession to rough edges without breaking the flow. It’s the space where his tracks breathe best: intimate, dark‑toned and firmly anchored in the sound he has shaped since Bristol.
