Eastside Events present Discharge

On 16 October 2026 at The Cluny in Newcastle upon Tyne, Discharge plug straight into the core of UK hardcore punk. Born in Stoke at the end of the seventies, the band stripped punk to its frame: abrasive guitars, overdriven bass, a marching snare and a barked chant, with lyrics fixed on war, social order and state violence. Those early barrages — Realities of War, Fight Back, Decontrol, Why? — set the pattern for what would be called D-beat and led to the stark landmark Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing.

Line-up changes never blunted the approach. With Jeff Janiak on vocals since 2014 and the 2016 album End of Days as a recent milestone, Discharge still move between raw punk urgency and a harder metal edge without losing focus. Their influence runs wide — from Metallica to Sepultura — but on stage it stays direct: short songs, clenched rhythms, no frills. Expect a set that digs into the formative cuts and fires up newer material with the same tight, propulsive attack. Newcastle gets the essential dose, loud and close.
