The Proclaimers

On 28 November 2026 at Edinburgh Playhouse in Edinburgh, The Proclaimers bring Craig and Charlie Reid back to home turf. Formed in 1983, the twin brothers started as an acoustic duo before broadening into a fuller band sound, mixing folk rock, roots and pop with a lean punch inherited from punk. Tight vocal harmonies, direct songwriting and a clear Scottish accent sit at the core of their identity. Their catalogue runs from This Is the Story and Sunshine on Leith to Angry Cyclist and Dentures Out, with songs like Letter from America, I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) and Sunshine on Leith now part of the collective memory. On stage, the pair move easily between stripped-back storytelling and band-driven momentum, keeping the voices up front and the melodies to the point. Across four decades they’ve toured the UK, North America and Australia, and played festivals including Glastonbury, carrying songs that balance the personal with social and political observation.
