Teenage Fanclub

Teenage Fanclub play La Belle Angele in Edinburgh on 15 November 2026. Formed in Bellshill near Glasgow in 1989, the band carved out a sound of chiming guitars, unadorned hooks and close harmonies that sits somewhere between power pop, jangle pop and alternative rock. From the raw edges of A Catholic Education to the tighter writing of Bandwagonesque, Thirteen and Grand Prix, then Songs from Northern Britain and Howdy!, their catalogue traces a steady, collective method built on shared vocals and songwriting.

Through the 2000s and 2010s, Man-Made, Shadows and Here refined that approach, favouring detail and guitar interplay over excess. Since Gerard Love’s departure in 2018, Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley have steered the group through Endless Arcade (2021) and Nothing Lasts Forever (2023), keeping the mid-tempo pulse, interlaced guitars and understated choruses at the core. On stage, those elements lead: melodies up front, harmonies ringing, and a clear thread running from 70s American pop to British indie roots, with songs drawn across three decades of writing.
