Shalamar « The Gold Tour - A Fifty Year Celebration »

Shalamar mark five decades of R&B, soul-funk and disco with The Gold Tour - A Fifty Year Celebration, landing in Glasgow on 28 June 2026 at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Formed in Los Angeles in the mid-70s out of the Soul Train orbit, the group began as a studio project built around the medley Uptown Festival before evolving into a vocal trio. Under SOLAR Records with producer Leon Sylvers III, they honed tight harmonies and club-minded grooves that carried them from the disco of Uptown Festival and Disco Gardens to the funk-soul-pop blend of Big Fun and Three for Love, and the early-80s electronic turn of Friends and The Look.

On stage, Shalamar retrace that path: ballads and dancefloor cuts, vocal interplay and the choreography that helped push street-dance styles into the mainstream, notably through Jeffrey Daniel’s performances that resonated in the UK. This anniversary tour brings a catalogue-spanning set, reconnecting with the sound that linked American R&B to British dancefloors and kept the group’s legacy alive through the later albums Heartbreak, Circumstantial Evidence and Wake Up.
