Soul II Soul

Soul II Soul lands at the Brighton Centre, Brighton, on 28 October 2026. Born in late‑80s London around Jazzie B, the collective grew out of a sound system and club nights at the Africa Centre and the Fridge in Brixton. More crew than fixed band, they blend soul, R&B, dance, hip‑hop and reggae heritage into a distinctly British street‑soul sound shaped by Caribbean, African and African‑American influences.

The early phase brought together producers Simon Law and Nellee Hooper with voices like Rose Windross, Doreen Waddell and Caron Wheeler, whose leads on Keep On Movin’ and Back to Life anchored Club Classics Vol. One in 1989. Through the 90s, the lineup shifted while the catalogue expanded with Vol. II: 1990 – A New Decade, Volume III Just Right, Volume V: Believe and Time for Change, featuring singers such as Marcia Lewis, Victoria Wilson‑James, Kym Mazelle, Penny Ford, Melissa Bell and Charlotte Kelly.

Back on the road since 2007 with Jazzie B at the core, Soul II Soul continues to tour with Charlotte Kelly among the featured voices, revisiting signature tracks and that warm, rolling groove that defined their era.
