De Staat

De Staat bring their shape-shifting alternative rock to King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow on 13 November 2026. Launched in Nijmegen in 2006 by singer and guitarist Torre Florim, the Dutch band have built a sound where angular guitars lock with a thick, forward bass, while drum patterns borrow from dance and post-punk. Repetition, call-and-response chants and sturdy grooves sit at the core of their writing, feeding songs that slide between indie rock and a rough-edged pop instinct.

From Wait for Evolution through Machinery, I_CON and O to Bubble Gum, the group has folded more synthetic textures into its palette without losing the tight, collective drive that defines their records. On stage, Torre Florim leads alongside Rocco Hueting, Jop van Summeren and Tim van Delft, stacking motifs, pushing rhythmic tension and leaning into vocal mantras that turn riffs into rolling patterns. Expect a set that draws across their catalogue and plays with dynamics and repetition, with special guests opening the night.
