The Orb

The Orb land at Brewery Arts, Kendal, on 30 May 2026. Steered by Alex Paterson with Michael Rendall at his side, the project keeps reshaping the ambient house blueprint it sketched at the tail end of the acid house era. On stage, Paterson’s DJ instinct meets live electronics: long blends, vaporous textures, dubbed-out bass and sly sample collage that tilt into firmer rhythms when the room asks for it.

Recent chapters feed the set. Prism (2023) reconnects their ambient drift with acid-tinged grooves, while Metallic Spheres In Colour, made with David Gilmour, folds widescreen guitar tones into grainy atmospheres. The show often weaves reworks, segued album moments and deep-catalogue detours, threaded with the dry humour and crate-digger references that have marked The Orb from the start.

Still fresh from tours across the UK, Europe and the US, The Orb treat the club-concert space as a journey rather than a sprint. Long-form, immersive and physical when it needs to be, this is music for late-night listeners as much as for a room ready to move.
