Nourished by Time

On 11 July 2026 at the Barbican Centre, Baltimore’s Marcus Brown, aka Nourished by Time, brings his hybrid R&B to London. Since 2020, he’s been shaping songs that slide between alternative R&B, synth-pop and indie electronics, with post-punk edges and echoes of early 90s freestyle and R&B. Lo-fi by design, the tracks hinge on soul-inflected melodies, elastic drum programming and a grain that keeps the surface slightly rough.

Recorded partly at home during lockdowns, Erotic Probiotic 2 (2023) clarified a personal language linking Baltimore club impulses and introspective writing. He followed with the EP Catching Chickens (2024) after signing to XL Recordings, then the album The Passionate Ones (2025). On stage, that balance turns tactile: lean arrangements, voice up front, basslines that nudge the tempo, synth hooks that linger.

After tours in North America and Europe, including dates with Dry Cleaning, and a detour with Yaeji on the 2023 track Happy, Nourished by Time lines up a set that draws across his catalogue, moving from slow-bloom confessionals to tracks wired for a restless floor.
