Info

Saint Etienne play O2 Institute Birmingham on 12 September 2026. Formed in Croydon in 1990, the trio of Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs has shaped a pop landscape where club culture meets 60s melodies, house and synthpop. Their catalogue runs from the debut Foxbase Alpha through the narrative snap of So Tough, the folk-electronic weave of Tiger Bay, the warm textures of Good Humor and the ambient-leaning Sound of Water, to the London-focused Finisterre and Tales from Turnpike House. In recent years, Words and Music, Home Counties, I’ve Been Trying to Tell You, The Night and International have extended the line, balancing memory, cinema and street-level pop.

Also on the bill, Nick Heyward brings the bright, melody-first writing that lit up Haircut One Hundred and Pelican West before a solo course shaped by North of a Miracle, Postcards from Home and I Love You Avenue. In the 90s he steered into wider pop-rock colours with From Monday to Sunday, Tangled and The Apple Bed, later returning with Woodland Echoes. Expect crisp guitars, supple rhythms and songs that link his early hits with newer material, all delivered with the clarity that has marked his path since the start.
