Info
Liam Bailey brings his rough-edged soul and roots-leaning songwriting to King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow on 14 September 2026. Raised on soul, reggae, blues and pared-back rock, the Nottingham singer balances direct, confessional lyrics with a grainy voice that cuts through stripped guitar lines, vintage keys or a firmer rhythm section. After early EPs on Amy Winehouse’s Lioness Records, Bailey moved between acoustic sketches, contemporary soul production and UK bass crossovers, carrying the same timbre into collaborations with Chase & Status (Blind Faith, Big Man), Shy FX (Soon Come), Joe Armon-Jones and more. On stage he folds these threads together, shifting from lo-fi soul to folk-rock turns and Jamaican inflections with an unvarnished ease.
His albums trace the path: Definitely Now (2014) set the frame; Ekundayo (2020) with Leon Michels widened the dub-soul palette; Enfant Terrible (2023) with St Francis Hotel sharpened the songwriting; Zero Grace (2024) reunited him with the El Michels Affair collective for a warm, analog grain. Live, it stays organic and close-up, centered on voice, song and a pulse that nods to both classic soul and the UK’s reggae lineage.
