Info
On 18 October 2027 at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in Liverpool, Wet Wet Wet revisit Popped In Souled Out, the 1987 debut that shaped their soul-pop signature. Formed in Clydebank in the early 80s, the band blends melodic hooks, orchestral ballads and R&B inflections. Kevin Simm now leads the vocals with long-time members Tommy Cunningham, Graeme Clark and Neil Mitchell, joined on guitar by Graeme Duffin. The show centres on the album’s tracks and opens out to the chapters that followed, from The Memphis Sessions and Holding Back the River to the 90s singles that carried them beyond the UK, including their version of Love Is All Around for Four Weddings and a Funeral. Four decades on, they reconnect with the songs that anchored their story.
Support: The Christians. Formed in Liverpool in 1985 around brothers Garry, Roger and Russell Christian with Henry Priestman, the group draws on British soul, pop sophistication and gospel-tinged harmonies. Early releases The Christians (1987) and Colour (1990) set the tone for melodic writing with a social edge, followed by Happy in Hell (1992) and later albums Prodigal Sons, Soul from Liverpool, Speed of Life and We. Led today by Garry Christian, they present a vocal-forward set tracing their catalogue from a cappella roots to soul-pop arrangements.
