Info
Alison Moyet brings her distinctive contralto back to the stage on 23 October 2026 at Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham. Raised in Basildon and first heard in the early 80s alongside Vince Clarke in Yazoo, she helped shape a crisp strain of synth-pop with Upstairs at Eric’s and You and Me Both. Stepping out solo, she opened her sound to pop, soul and blues, moving between electronic pulses and more classic instrumentation across Alf and Raindancing, then pushing into a rawer, song‑driven vein on Hoodoo and Essex. After Hometime, she explored orchestral reinterpretations on Voice and a songwriter’s framing on The Turn, before reconnecting with a stripped electronic palette on The Minutes and Other with producer Guy Sigsworth.
On stage, Moyet draws a clear line through these chapters: Yazoo‑era minimalism sits next to sleek, contemporary electronics and the more grounded pop and soul of her early solo work. The set leans on clarity of songwriting and the weight of her low register, shifting from stark textures to warmer arrangements without losing focus. A night charting four decades of songs, revisited with the assurance of an artist who knows exactly how to inhabit them.
