Info
Formed in Sydney in 2008 by bassist Johnny McKelvey and Scottish-born singer Frankie McLaughlin, The Rumjacks built a Celtic punk identity that fuses punk drive, folk melodies and the singalong spirit of pub songs. After early EPs, the blueprint sharpened on Gangs of New Holland (2010), followed by Sober & Godless (2015) and Sleepin’ Rough (2016), as the band took its shows from Australia to Europe. The line-up shifted over time around a steady rhythm section, keeping a balance between fast, rough-edged numbers, acoustic ballads and chanted choruses.
A new chapter started in 2020 with the departure of McLaughlin and the arrival of American vocalist Mike Rivkees, who fronted Hestia (2021) and nudged the writing into a fresh register without breaking the link to the early material. Lyrics draw on daily life, journeys and migration, social tensions and barroom encounters, carried by electric riffs, tight rhythms, group vocals and acoustic arrangements.
The Rumjacks bring this mix to Klub Łącznik in Wrocław, Poland on 18 September 2026, with a set built for collective refrains and calm passages slipped between bursts of energy.
