Kiesgrube with Black Coffee

On June 14, 2026, Black Coffee will perform at the Kiesgrube in Neuss. The South African DJ and producer has honed his signature in the deep-house scene over more than two decades: slow tempos, warm percussion, a soulful timbre and a groove that builds patiently. Raised between Umlazi, Mthatha and Durban, he first came to prominence with the trio Shana and at the Red Bull Music Academy in Cape Town in 2003. He launched his solo career with his label Soulistic Music and albums such as Black Coffee, Have Another One and Home Brewed. With the live project Africa Rising and the album Pieces of Me he opened his music far beyond South Africa, without severing his ties to Afro‑House and Deep House. 2021’s Subconsciously, marked by collaborations with international voices, demonstrates his ability to weave global pop sensibilities into minimalist house structures. Live, Black Coffee relies on repetition with feeling, sparingly used vocals and plenty of space between the beats. At the Kiesgrube this meets a concentrated dramaturgy: little in the way of gimmickry, instead a set that endures over time, with tempo finely calibrated and tension drawn from the details.
