Info
Yonaka land at The Academy in Dublin on 30 September 2026 with their tight blend of alternative rock, pop instincts and flashes of punk attitude. Formed in Brighton, the quartet centres on Theresa Jarvis’s clear, front-and-centre vocals, flanked by George Werbrouck-Edwards on guitar, Alex Crosby on bass and keys, and Robert Mason on drums. Big, weighty riffs meet sharp hooks and grooves that lean on hip-hop and contemporary pop, a balance they’ve honed since the early EPs Heavy, Teach Me To Fight and Creature. Their debut album Don’t Wait ’Til Tomorrow pushed further into intimate themes and mental health, then Seize The Power widened the palette again, before the Welcome To My House EP tightened everything into concise, high-impact songs.
On stage, Yonaka work in contrasts: dense guitars against bright choruses, percussive drive under melodic lines, raw textures held together by a clear sense of structure. The result sits comfortably between alternative circuits, heavier bills and indie pop crowds, and feels cut for a room like The Academy, where immediacy and dynamics can do the talking.
