Info

On 29 May 2026 at The Academy in Dublin, Thomas Dolby and Martin McAloon share an evening anchored in finely crafted pop writing.

Thomas Dolby, born Thomas Morgan Robertson in London, emerged from early 80s UK new wave with a blend of synth-pop, funk, ambient hues and a liking for cinematic arrangements. After time with Bruce Woolley’s Camera Club and key work alongside Lene Lovich, he launched a solo path with The Golden Age of Wireless and The Flat Earth, where electronics met soul and jazz inflections. The period yielded tracks like She Blinded Me with Science and Hyperactive!. Later albums broadened the scope, and A Map of the Floating City (2011) extended his taste for hybrid forms and narrative textures. On stage, his keyboards and producer’s touch drive the set.

Martin McAloon, bassist, singer and co-writer from County Durham, co-founded Prefab Sprout with his brother Paddy. His melodic bass lines and vocal blend helped shape the group’s sound across Steve McQueen, From Langley Park to Memphis and Jordan: The Comeback. With the band less active, he now carries that catalogue on stage under his own name, revisiting the songs’ architecture and the role of Steve McQueen in the band’s story.
