Fat Freddy’s Drop bring the Based on a True Story 21st Anniversary Tour to Kraków on 16 June 2026, at Klub STUDIO. Formed in Wellington in 1999, the group gathers producer Fitchie (Chris Faiumu), singer Joe Dukie (Dallas Tamaira), keyboardist Dobie Blaze (Iain Gordon) and guitarist Jetlag Johnson (Tehimana Kerr). On stage, they stretch their reggae-dub foundations with soul hooks, rolling basslines and wide-room delays, letting grooves build and shift in real time.

This show revisits the 2005 album that set their path, with tracks reshaped live and extended into new versions, then threads in later cuts from Dr Boondigga & The Big BW and Blackbird. Keys and guitar carry the dubbing, the rhythm section keeps a steady pulse, and Joe Dukie’s baritone sits warm at the center. The focus is on flow: long transitions, patient builds, and pockets that slide from roots sway to a dancefloor drift. Two decades on, the Wellington sound stays intact, lifted by a band that treats the studio material as a jumping-off point.
