Mekdes

Mekdes brings their blend of neo-soul, pop and R&B to RIGA in Hvidovre, Denmark on January 30, 2027. The Danish–Ethiopian singer, songwriter and producer builds a sound around a clear, front-and-center voice, stripped-back production and introspective writing crafted largely solo. Emerging at the end of the 2010s with the single Right Direction, they quickly took to Danish stages from Spot Festival to NorthSide and Smukfest. Live, they favor supple grooves and uncluttered arrangements that leave room for the melodies and the storytelling.

The set draws from the EP Fly (2020) and the debut album Greedy (2022), alongside the collaboration Føles Godt with URO (2023) and the 2024 project Mekdes Synger Toppen Af Poppen. In 2026, Mekdes released The Boy I Am, opening a new chapter personally and artistically after publicly sharing their trans identity, and adding fresh material where contemporary soul meets crisp pop writing. At RIGA, expect a focused performance carried by the songs themselves: voice upfront, production kept lean, feelings delivered without excess.
