Papooz, Plaisir

On July 16, 2026, at the Théâtre de Verdure in Ramatuelle, Papooz unfurls its chiaroscuro pop — at once luminous and shadowy. For more than ten years, Ulysse Cottin and Armand Penicaut have been crafting songs carried by guitars, blending velvety bossa, British pop and ’60s harmonies. Revealed in 2015 with Ann Wants to Dance, they have honed both in the studio and on stage a light, precise sound, served by an androgynous timbre that hooks the listener. With three albums to their name, the duo returns with Papooz & Friends, released in early 2026 and recorded between Paris, Rio and Mexico with collaborators such as Erlend Øye and Zé Ibarra. In Ramatuelle they will play as a quintet, joined by three musicians, for a set that glides from sentimental ballads to supple grooves, all in the spirit of friendship and collective play.

Alongside them, Plaisir — a collective founded in 2021 by Oscar Vataire and William Lemarchand, with Julien Thévenod and Lucien Dufour on saxophones — blurs the boundaries between pop, French touch, hip-hop, jazz and psych. Their influences range from Air, Tyler, The Creator and MNDSGN to Sébastien Tellier, yielding a colorful production that considers sound as much as image. Live, they assemble textures, languages and emotions in a fluid format. After La Fin de l’Été (September 2025) and a live session released in January 2026, the group followed up with Sous ma Chair and then J’adore (April 2026), announcing a new EP.
