Uriah Heep

On 22 November 2026 Uriah Heep will play at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, for an evening devoted to British hard rock with a prog-leaning touch and plenty of space for keyboards and multi-part vocals. Formed in London in 1969 out of the group Spice, the band built around guitarist Mick Box — the only constant since the start — developed a sound in which heavy riffs, Hammond organ, epic buildups and acoustic interludes alternate.

The early years set the tone with Very ’eavy… Very ’umble (1970) and Salisbury (1971), followed by Demons and Wizards and The Magician’s Birthday (both 1972), records that sharpened the combination of melody, drive and choir-like choruses. The period with David Byron as singer and Ken Hensley on keyboards and in the songwriting remains a touchstone, after which the lineup went through several changes. In the 1980s the band sounded more direct on Abominog (1982), without abandoning its contrasts and harmonies.

Still active, Uriah Heep links the heritage of British hard rock with more recent work such as Chaos & Colour (2023). Expect a set in Eindhoven that brings past and present together, with familiar organ tones, driving guitar work and vocal layers that carry the songs.
