On 27 May 2028 at 1:00 p.m. at the Zénith de Strasbourg, Roméo & Juliette will be staged. Roméo & Juliette has already captivated more than 11 million spectators worldwide. Translated into 18 languages and performed in 20 countries, the show has established itself as a landmark of the French musical. Launched in 2001 at the Palais des Congrès, the production drew nearly 2.5 million spectators and is anchored in the collective memory. From the outset, the duo Damien Sargue and Cécilia Cara embodied the lead roles. Audiences will once again find the original pair on stage.

For Cécilia, returning to Paris with Roméo & Juliette is moving. "I was chosen at 15 to play Juliet, a founding role that marked the beginning of my life as an artist. Reuniting with it twenty years later, alongside Damien, was a powerful moment, as if we had never been apart but had been enriched by everything life has given us. This return has symbolic value: closing the circle, coming back to where it all began, with 25 years of experience that now feed the characters in a different way. The story continues to bring people together, to convey love and emotion. It is a joy to reconnect with Juliet and the French public."

In the same vein, Damien adds: returning to Paris after taking Roméo & Juliette around the world, notably to Asia, carries a particular resonance. "This role has accompanied me since 2001, and rediscovering it today alongside Cécilia, with the perspective and maturity that time has given us, gives this adventure depth."

With more than 9 million records sold and well-known songs such as Les Rois du Monde and Aimer, Roméo & Juliette has left its mark on the history of musical theatre.

For nearly 25 years, the show has travelled across cultures and adapted to the evolutions of its time: new technologies, new stage codes, new audience expectations. True to its DNA while renewing itself, it retains its identity: familiar songs and a large-scale aesthetic.

For Gérard Presgurvic, Roméo & Juliette tells a love story. It poses a question that remains timely: how far are we willing to go for love? Shakespeare answers it with a force that transcends the centuries, and it is that emotion we continue to share with the audience. Reuniting Damien Sargue and Cécilia Cara, more than twenty years after their debuts, brings depth to the production, nourished by the experience they have gained. Roméo & Juliette is, for me and for the company, a long-term adventure.

Announcing the return of Roméo & Juliette is not simply about renewal. In 2027, Roméo & Juliette returns in a rethought version, integrating new generational codes while preserving the essence that has made it successful for a quarter of a century: a timeless story, universal emotions and a distinctive musical signature. This comeback is accompanied by a new cast, new costumes and new staging, redesigned for today without altering the show’s DNA.
