“To Cry with Laughter” is the promise Mathieu Madénian makes with this fourth show. With his trademark self-deprecating humor he recounts how his life and deepest certainties were upended by the late arrival of his first child. Over a fast-paced hour, Mathieu takes us on a dive into the tumultuous world of a newly minted father trying to juggle the absurdity of a world on the brink of chaos while learning the ropes of parenthood.

How can he reconcile his traditional upbringing with the new wave of modern fatherhood? How do you explain concepts of gender to your son… when you don’t even have TikTok figured out? And above all, how do you avoid sounding like an out-of-touch boomer?

With his gift for turning everyday life into comedy, Mathieu offers a show in which he talks about his mistakes, his blunders and the lessons he draws from his little boy, who, barely born, already seems to know more about life than he does. It’s a personal, heartfelt performance.
