Killswitch Engage bring their Massachusetts metalcore to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa on August 5, 2026. Formed in 1999, the band fuses thrash-leaning riffs, hardcore roots and melodic choruses, shifting between screamed passages and clean vocals. From their self-titled debut and Alive or Just Breathing to The End of Heartache, As Daylight Dies and later releases like Disarm the Descent, Incarnate and Atonement, they trace a line built on tight breakdowns, twin-guitar harmonies and choruses with clear melodic lines.
Sharing the bill, Machine Head, founded in Oakland in 1991 around vocalist-guitarist Robb Flynn, moves between Bay Area thrash roots and heavier modern groove. Their catalog, from Burn My Eyes to The Blackening and Unto the Locust, pairs sharp riffing with lyrics that look at social tension, resilience and doubt, shifting from driving rhythms to tense, melodic passages.
Opening, Sheffield’s Malevolence blends metalcore, groove metal and UK hardcore. From Reign of Suffering through Self Supremacy and the EP The Other Side to Malicious Intent, they lean on mid-tempo heft, syncopated riffs and vocals that swing from harsh delivery to more tuneful lines, setting the tone for the night.
